A small practice making calm, enduring houses and places of retreat along the California coast — designed from the site outward, one commission at a time.

(01) Approach

Est. 2011

We build few buildings, and we build them slowly. Each one begins with a single question — where does the light fall at four in the afternoon, in late October?

Philosophy

Our houses are low, quiet and specific to their ground. We work with a short list of honest materials — lime plaster, board-formed concrete, charred cedar, white oak — and let the Pacific light do the rest.

Every project is led by a principal from first site visit to handover. It is why we take on so few.
